Anant Ambani Pledges ₹18 Crore for Temple Development and Elephant Welfare in Kerala

Ananya soch: Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries Limited, has announced a significant contribution of ₹18 crore towards temple development and animal welfare initiatives during his recent visit to Rajarajeshwaram Temple and Guruvayur Temple.

Major Boost for Temple Infrastructure

During his visit to Rajarajeshwaram Temple on April 2, Ambani offered traditional rituals and donated ₹3 crore for ongoing renovation. He further committed ₹12 crore for comprehensive restoration work, including the historic East Gopuram—an architecturally significant structure believed to be as old as the temple itself and in disrepair for over 200 years. The project will also enhance parking and pilgrim facilities, improving the overall visitor experience.

Support for Guruvayur Temple and Devotees

Earlier in the day, Ambani visited Guruvayur Temple, offering prayers to Lord Guruvayurappan and donating ₹3 crore to the temple trust. He was warmly received by temple authorities and honoured with traditional rituals and mementos.

Focus on Elephant Welfare and Conservation

Highlighting his commitment to animal welfare through Vantara, Ambani announced additional support for temple elephant care at Guruvayur. Planned initiatives include a modern elephant hospital, chain-free shelters, and scientific care systems aimed at ensuring humane and dignified treatment of elephants associated with temple traditions. Speaking on the occasion, Ambani emphasized the importance of preserving India’s spiritual and cultural heritage while integrating modern, ethical practices.
