A Grand Celebration of Rhythm & Heritage: Cultural Evening Marks World Dance Day in Jaipur

Ananya soch: Marking the spirit of World Dance Day 2026, Jawahar Kala Kendra is set to host a grand cultural evening on April 28, 2026. The event promises an engaging showcase of the renowned Jaipur Gharana of Kathak along with vibrant traditional folk dances of Rajasthan, offering audiences a rich blend of classical precision and folk exuberance.

Organized jointly by Jawahar Kala Kendra and Jaipur Kathak Kendra, the program will feature a total of 45 artists. Among them, 38 are trained dancers while 7 will accompany them as musicians, creating a dynamic and immersive stage experience. The initiative aims to preserve and promote India’s classical and folk dance traditions while providing a meaningful platform to talented performers.

Additional Director General Dr. Anuradha Gogia shared that the evening will offer a unique opportunity for audiences to witness the distinctive style of Jaipur Gharana Kathak, known for its powerful footwork and intricate rhythm patterns, alongside the colorful essence of Rajasthan’s folk heritage. She emphasized that such events play a crucial role in nurturing cultural awareness and inspiring the younger generation to connect with India’s artistic roots.

The cultural evening will be held at the Rangayan Auditorium of the centre, beginning at 7:00 PM. In an effort to encourage wider participation, entry to the event has been kept completely free, ensuring accessibility for art enthusiasts, students, and the general public alike.
