Ananya soch: In a major push to strengthen public participation in sanitation efforts, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma launched a statewide cleanliness pledge and awareness campaign from the iconic Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur on Saturday.
During the state-level event, the Chief Minister participated in shramdaan (voluntary cleanliness work) and administered a cleanliness pledge to citizens. PPE kits were distributed to municipal sanitation workers, while beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme received symbolic cheques. He also planted saplings at Ramniwas Bagh to promote environmental awareness.
Cleanliness as the foundation of health and development
Addressing the gathering, Sharma emphasized that cleanliness is not just about sanitation but also the foundation of health, environmental protection and economic growth.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming the Swachh Bharat Mission into a nationwide people’s movement. Under this initiative, more than 120 million toilets have been constructed across India, significantly improving safety and dignity for women.
The Chief Minister added that the vision of Developed India 2047 and Developed Rajasthan 2047 can only be achieved if every street, home, park and monument remains clean.
Cleanliness drive marks beginning of Rajasthan Day celebrations
The Chief Minister also announced that Rajasthan Day will be celebrated on March 19 across the state with great enthusiasm. The day commemorates the formation of Greater Rajasthan on March 30, 1949 under the leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
With its forts, palaces, lakes, deserts and wildlife sanctuaries, Rajasthan attracts millions of tourists every year. Maintaining cleanliness, he said, is essential for preserving the state’s cultural heritage and tourism appeal.

The state government has launched several programs to encourage citizens to participate in cleanliness drives. Similar campaigns have already been organized at Jal Mahal and Mansarovar City Park in Jaipur.
