ICC T20 Rankings 2026: Team India’s Golden Era Continues: India Retains No.1 Spot in ICC Men’s T20I Rankings
Indian Players Lead World Cricket as Team India Strengthens Its ICC T20I Dominance
Ananya soch: ICC T20 Rankings 2026: The International Cricket Council (ICC) released its latest Men’s T20 International rankings update on March 11, 2026, confirming that the India national cricket team continues to dominate world cricket. Fresh from their historic triumph in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, India has successfully retained the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings.
India currently holds a rating of 273, showing a slight increase from the previous rankings update. The revised rankings came after the T20 World Cup final, where India delivered an emphatic performance by defeating the New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs to clinch their second consecutive T20 World Cup title.
India’s dominance in the shortest format of the game has been remarkable. The team has held the No.1 ranking continuously since February 2022, maintaining the top spot for more than 1,708 consecutive days. The back-to-back World Cup triumph, especially on home soil, has further strengthened India’s position as the most consistent and powerful T20 side in international cricket.
Indian Players Shine Across ICC Rankings
Indian players have also made a huge impact in the ICC individual rankings. Young opening batter Abhishek Sharma currently sits at No.1 in the ICC T20I batting rankings with 875 rating points. Close behind him is wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who has climbed to No.2 with a career-best rating of 871.
This historic achievement marks the first time two Indian players have simultaneously occupied the top two spots in the ICC T20I batting rankings. Kishan played a key role in India’s World Cup campaign, scoring 317 runs during the tournament, including three impressive half-centuries. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson, who was named Player of the Tournament, also made a strong rise in the rankings thanks to his consistent match-winning performances.
In the bowling rankings, Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan regained the No.1 position, while India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy slipped to second. India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah moved up to sixth place, further highlighting the strength of India’s bowling attack. Among all-rounders, India’s dynamic star Hardik Pandya shares the top ranking with Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, reflecting the importance of versatile players in modern T20 cricket. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav credited the team’s balance and consistency for maintaining the top ranking, while head coach Gautam Gambhir praised the dedication of the players. With upcoming international series ahead, India now looks forward to continuing its dominance and preparing for the next major challenge — the 2028 T20 World Cup.
