Rhythmic Brilliance Takes Center Stage at JKK’s 33rd Foundation Day

Ananya soch:  A captivating musical evening unfolded at Jawahar Kala Kendra as part of its 33rd Foundation Day celebrations, featuring the enthralling “Taal Vadya Kacheri.” The event highlighted the richness of Indian classical music, focusing exclusively on avanaddha vadya (percussion instruments), and offered audiences a deeply immersive rhythmic experience.

According to Anuradha Gogiya, Joint Secretary, Department of Art & Culture, and Additional Director General of Jawahar Kala Kendra, the program was designed to showcase the intricate coordination and expressive depth of traditional percussion instruments. The performance successfully demonstrated the complexity and beauty of rhythmic improvisation, leaving the audience spellbound.

Masterful Performances Led by Muzaffar Rahman

Under the direction of Muzaffar Rahman, the ensemble delivered a powerful presentation featuring tabla, pakhawaj, nagada, and dholak. The artists displayed exceptional control, speed, and creativity, bringing alive the essence of classical layakari through their synchronized performances.

The concert included traditional compositions such as peshkar, kayda, rela, and gat, each presented with remarkable finesse. The grand finale featured a soulful interpretation of the famous thumri “Yaad Piya Ki Aaye,” accompanied by traditional laggis, which added a melodious and emotional dimension to the rhythmic showcase.

Eminent Artists and Ensemble

The performance featured a talented group of artists, including Muzaffar Rahman, Mohammad Zaman, Ved Prakash, Mohammad Shoaib, Hari Krishna Rao, Ramzan Hussain, Akbar Hussain, and Ayan Hussain on tabla. Supporting them were Zakir Hussain on sarangi, Babu Khan on harmonium, Mohammad Irfan on sitar, Gopal Khinchi on nagada, and Rizwan Hussain on dholak.

Grand Finale Scheduled for April 10

Anuradha Gogiya also informed that the concluding day of the Foundation समारोह on April 10, 2026, will feature a vibrant lineup of cultural performances. These include an instrumental presentation by Zeyan Hussain and group, Ghoomar dance by Arjun and troupe, Bhawai dance by Urmila Kumari and group, and Deru dance by Bishanlal and team.The celebrations continue to reflect Rajasthan’s rich cultural legacy and artistic diversity.
